We knew it was coming, and it came - Google buys over Feedburner. Almost everyone is delighted with the deal: Google, Feedburner, advertisers and publishers. You can read the announcement by Feedburner and the short post by Google on this matter.

So what does this mean for Feedburner users?
from the acquisition FAQ

Q. What does this mean for FeedBurner’s partners, advertisers, and users?
A: We are excited to continue offering FeedBurner’s exceptional tools to content creators throughout the world, and our teams will work together to improve the experiences of feed users, advertisers, and publishers. Users can continue to sign up for FeedBurner’s services and take advantage of their feed tools and features immediately, and advertisers can continue to leverage FeedBurner’s media network to achieve their marketing objectives.

Basically, that boils down to “Nothing much yet..”. However, people have already speculated the many possibilities as a result of this acquisition. As for us, we’ll dare venture to say that

  • Google Analytics will play a crucial role in either replacing or advancing the current feed tracker
  • Adwords advertisers will have access to both Adsense and Feedburner Ads
  • Google Adsense might take over the current Feedburner Ads system
  • Microsoft and Yahoo will acquire a similar feeds-related company soon

Another speculation that we’ll love for to happen is the lowered requirements to integrate Feedburner Ads for publishers. Should Adsense replace the current ads system, such a speculation might come to pass - to match with the fairly low requirements of Adsense. Either way, we’ll sit tight and prepare for a thrilling ride :) What about you?
